Dental Veneers

Dental technology has come a long way, and there are many ways to enhance your smile.

Dental technology has come a long way, and there are many ways to enhance your smile. Dental veneers are an excellent option for correcting many cosmetic and functional dental complaints. In fact, many people who see us at Smiles of Mathews have never considered that veneers might be the ideal treatment for them.

We use state-of-the-art techniques at our dentist office to create beautiful smiles for the people of Mathews. The results look natural and bring out your best.

What Are Dental Veneers?

Dental Veneers are extremely thin sheets of porcelain that improve the appearance of your teeth by covering their front surface. They’re often used on the teeth toward the front of the mouth to alter their size, shape, length and finish. However, they can also be used to rebuild molars.

We take into account the natural color of your teeth and your whitening goals to apply veneers in a hue that complements your natural tooth shade. You can go a few shades brighter while coordinating the color with the rest of your mouth. Porcelain reflects light like your natural teeth.

Benefits of Dental Veneers

Veneers optimize the size, shape and color of your teeth. Some of the advantages of veneers include:

• Natural-looking tooth restoration

• Minimal gum irritation

• Non-invasive

• Stain-resistant

• Long-lasting

Who Qualifies for Dental Veneers?

Veneers are commonly used to repair the following dental issues:

• Discoloration

• Erosion

• Chips and fractures

• Some types of misalignment

• Irregularly shaped teeth

• Short or small teeth

• Gaps between the teeth

Some of these concerns are cosmetic. However, many of these complaints present a functional problem for the patient. Building up teeth that are broken or worn down can help you eat and talk normally.

Fixing gaps eliminates hiding spots where food can get stuck. Correcting misalignment can ease jaw pain. Therefore, veneers are a cosmetic and restorative procedure that we perform every day at Smiles of Mathews.

How to Get Dental Veneers in Mathews

  1. Consultation and Examination: During your first visit, Dr. Marks will examine your teeth, take nessesary x-rays of the teeth, discuss your goals and expectations, and explain the veneer procedure.
  2. Treatment Planning: Based on the examination, your Dr. Marks will create a customized treatment plan tailored to your needs. This plan will include the type of veneers (e.g., porcelain or composite), the desired color and shape, and the number of veneers needed.
  3. Preparation: To prepare your teeth for veneers, Dr. Marks will need to remove a thin layer of enamel from the front surface of your teeth. This is typically done under local anesthesia to minimize discomfort. Afterward, your dentist will make impressions of your teeth, which will be used to fabricate your veneers.
  4. Temporary Veneers (Optional): In some cases, temporary veneers may be placed while your permanent veneers are being fabricated. These temporary veneers protect your teeth and give you an idea of how your smile will look with the final veneers.
  5. Fabrication: Your impressions are sent to a dental laboratory where skilled technicians will create your custom veneers. This process usually takes a couple of weeks.
  6. Bonding: Once your veneers are ready, you'll return to the dentist for the bonding process. Dr. Marks will place the veneers on your teeth to check their fit and color. Any necessary adjustments will be made at this stage. Once you and Dr. Marks are satisfied with the fit and appearance, your teeth will be cleaned, polished, and etched to create a rough surface for better bonding. Then, a special dental adhesive is applied to the veneers, and they are carefully placed on your teeth. A curing light is used to harden the adhesive, securing the veneers in place.
  7. Final Touches: After the veneers are bonded, Dr. Marks may make final adjustments to ensure they feel comfortable and look natural. You'll also receive instructions on how to care for your new veneers to maintain their longevity and appearance.
  8. Follow-Up: Dr. Marks may schedule a follow-up appointment to check on your veneers and ensure they're functioning properly. They may also provide additional guidance on maintaining good oral hygiene and caring for your veneers.

Overall, the process of receiving dental veneers involves careful planning, preparation, and collaboration between you and Dr. Marks to achieve the desired results and a beautiful, natural-looking smile.
